BCLS in the spotlight
Boston College Law School made national headlines on Wednesday as the Boston Globe reported on the school’s decision to suspend its policy of awarding the Founder’s Medal to Commencement speakers, beginning with Attorney General Mukasey this year. For readers who caught the story early, it has been updated at least three times with additional quotes and details. The Globe writer appears to have gotten his information from Dean Garvey’s letter, posted on the Counselor website, conversations with alumni, and the BCLS Communications office.
The story was picked up by the Associated Press and a number member papers and websites around the country published the news. Blogs also commented on the issue and BCLS was praised and condemned for its decision. A list of links follows at the bottom of this story. A number of students and faculty said they heard the story recounted on WBUR, the local NPR station, early on Wednesday. The article was also covered by Brit Hume on his national news program on Fox News, a video snippet of which is below.
