Women's Law Center and BC Law Democrats Present Women Lawyers in Politics
On Thursday, April 17, at 12:30 in East Wing 115B, the Women’s Law Center and the BC Law Democrats will host female state Representatives and Suffolk County’s recently-elected female sheriff on a panel discussion about the unique challenges and delights of being a woman in government and politics.
The event will feature prominent women lawyers in Massachusetts government and politics, including Representative Alice Peisch, Representative Marie St. Fleur, Representative Denise Provost, Representative Katherine Clark and Suffolk County Sheriff Andrea Cabral. These successful women will talk about their lives, their careers and the challenges they have faced along the way.
“In a year when a woman lawyer is competing for the top political job in the country, it is important to discuss the issues facing women lawyers in politics,” said Stas Gayshan ‘09, the President of the BC Law Democrats. “The lessons we will learn from these successful women will be useful for all of us.”
“I’m thrilled that so many talented and accomplished women have agreed to share their experiences with us,” said Tracy Coogan ‘09, President of the Women’s Law Center and Vice President of the BC Law Democrats. “While female lawyers face many obstacles in their careers, the successes of these women will serve as inspiration to anyone interested in government and politics.”
The panel discussion will take place in East Wing 115B from 12:30 until 2 PM on Thursday, April 17. Food will be served.
