Eagleionline Election Results

I am pleased to announce that Paul Sousa ‘12 has been elected Editor in Chief for the 2010-2011 academic year, and that Noah Rabin ‘11 has been reelected as Managing Editor.  Congratulations to them both!

If a candidate were to demonstrate interest, we may yet elect an Associate Editor and a Technology Editor.  Please contact us here about these positions.  Additionally, we would love to add new 1L or 2L staff writers by the end of this school year.  Please consider it; once students have started writing, they typically find it rewarding and relatively easy.

In addition, the search is officially on to fill the role of Ombudsman.  The new Ombudsman will be appointed by the Editor in Chief, but please contact us to indicate your interest.  The Ombudsman plays a critical role with Eagleionline, charged with being available to the public to raise queries or qualms about the site’s core goals and organization, particularly in the free speech and privacy contexts.

The new Editorial Board will be assume control of the site on April 1.  Look here for a description of the Editorial Board roles.

Congrats Paul and Noah.

Fantastic. Now we can expect an even heavier dose of articles about gay marriage.

2L: why would you expect that? Paul has the liberty to post as often as he wants as it is, so I doubt the sheer quantity will change.

What Eagleionline needs is more writers to diversify the content. If you don't like the content, you should do some writing about what you care about.

Otherwise, quit your bitching.

How is posting a comment all that different than writing an article? One allows you to bitch, and the other does not, is that about right?

I have to agree with 2L. While I have no interest in writing articles, I also have no interest in reading the same thing over and over again. And I'm not from Connecticut, so I won't be calling the AG candidates any time soon.

I like anonymous commenting. I think it's a good resource, and we all get to hear the thoughts of more people.

There is an enormous difference between writing an anonymous comment, however, and voicing an opinion for all to hear with your name stamped prominently on it. Especially when that exposes a writer to anonymous commenters, maybe? I have rarely posted my own opinions on Eaglei, but I have done so enough to say: if you don't perceive much of a difference here, you are way, way off.

If you have no interest in writing articles, don't.
If you have no interest in reading "the same thing over and over again," don't.

If you want other things to be on the site, write it, or encourage others to write. Absolutely Eaglei can use more writers, particularly if that serves to diversify the site's content. I try to respect everyone's opinion, and while I don't think less of anyone for not wanting to voice it publicly, diverse content is the most direct way to a healthy dialogue. And I really wish Eaglei hosted more points of view.

Please?

This site needs:

(1) Anonymous, immediate posting - moderating should be done after posts. this would actually allow discussions on Eageli posts, rather then posting and seeing it a day later. What successful blog is run in the former way?

(2) More gossip. I don't care what you think about a movie or album - there are literally THOUSANDS of blogs that specialize in that. Why would I come here for that? We need more hearsay and gossip about things going on. the current editors and writers don't have their ears to the ground of the school.
