My name is Peter Foundas and I hope to serve the BC Law community next year as Treasurer of the LSA. Basically the Treasurer is responsible for insuring all LSA funds are being spent appropriately. However in addition to that I see the position as one that presents a unique opportunity to not only insure transparency as to how the LSA spends its money, but also to hold the administration accountable to the students, the real stakeholders in the school, as to how the school allocates its resources. I want to work with next year’s board to insure every dollar of tuition is being spent wisely, and to marshal all the resources of the LSA to help keep BC Law attractive to employers from all fields: big firms, public interest and government.
I have had the privilege as serving as the Treasurer of PILF this past year. One PILF board member, whom I have had the privilege of working closely with this year – Claire Urban, PILF Stipends Coordinator – had the following to say regarding our working relationship:
“I just wanted to say that, as PILF Stipends coordinator, I’ve worked closely with Pete this year in his role as PILF treasurer. He has spent a lot of time working with the administration, to track all the money PILF has raised and to make sure all of that money goes towards summer stipends. Earlier this year, due an unanticipated change in federal work study funding, we were afraid we were going to have a crisis in summer stipend funding. Peter played an integral part in making sure a crisis did not occur, and making sure that we were able to fund as many summer stipends as possible. Without his input, there would be a lot less students receiving stipends this summer. He has done a great job as PILF treasurer, and I’m sure he’ll do a great job as LSA treasurer.”
In my role as PILF Treasurer I have already had the opportunity to work with members of the administration to keep track of PILF’s finances. I developed great working relationships and hope to continue them throughout the upcoming year.
Prior to coming to Law school, I worked for KPMG, a large international accounting firm, as a corporate auditor. In that role I was responsible for detecting corporate fraud and insuring public companies issued accurate financial statements to the investing public. While an undergraduate at Umass Amherst I served as Business Manager and then as Editor in Chief of the Massachusetts Daily Collegian, where I was responsible for creating the budget of over $500K and making sure we stuck to it.
I believe I have the experience and knowledge necessary to serve the LSA and ultimately the students of BC Law as Treasurer.
I ask for your vote this Wednesday.

Pete is my opponent in this race, but also a friend who I am sure would do a fantastic job if elected. I admit that I hope I will win, and I think I would do a great job, but BC would be well off to have Pete as Treasurer.
