It's Business Time
The following was submitted by Frank Zonars, a candidate for LSA Secretary.
It’s almost decision time, and the tone of the election is becoming more serious. Here is a short post directed at those students who value substance over hilarity:
Secretary’s Role
Under the LSA Bylaws, the Secretary circulates new amendments to the bylaws (Bylaw 103(c)-(d)), prepares documents for meetings (Bylaw 204(b)(3)-(4)), and publishes legislation for the student body to view (Bylaw 204(b)(6)). Important…but bo-ring.
I think the Secretary should be more than just a record-keeper; He should act as a liaison between the student body and the LSA leadership.
Students often complain that they don’t know what the LSA does. This makes me sad, because it shows that many students don’t realize how significantly and positively the LSA can impact their day-to-day lives at the law school.
I propose to end this problem for good: if elected Secretary I pledge to maintain a Secretary’s Blog which will keep students apprised of the projects the LSA is currently working on. This will facilitate communication by allowing interested students to be informed, provide input, and ask questions. It will not clutter inboxes.
Why vote for me?
I was one of the students who successfully advocated for the additional direct shuttle from Cleveland Circle to the law school. I organized the Food Frenzy that took place last week and raised nearly $1000 for the Greater Boston Food Bank.
I was an outspoken and effective advocate for my Section this year. I want to take that advocacy to the next level by facilitating dialogue between the student body and the LSA leadership. I have a vision of an LSA Secretary who is more visible and involved than ever before. Please help me realize that goal by voting Zonars for Secretary!
